What does my AI assistant remember about me?
The answer depends on the product and the path you used. An assistant may have the current conversation, saved memories, uploaded material or retrieved past content. Inspect the records and sources actually available instead of assuming that a fluent personal reply means everything was remembered correctly.
Information visible in the current chat may be used without becoming a long-term memory. A saved preference may survive when the original conversation is no longer in view. Uploaded files and connected sources add further paths. Ask which of these the current answer used; a generic “I remember” is not enough to identify the record you need to inspect.
Useful memory management lets you examine the actual wording, its source information and current state. A source label is not necessarily a link to the underlying conversation or file. If no reference is available, treat that as a limitation rather than inventing a provenance chain. A confidence value can support review, but does not prove that the remembered statement is true.
A confirmed experience, a changing preference and a model inference should not have the same meaning. Check whether the product distinguishes them in both the record and the resulting response. Fictional character settings also belong to a different context. When an inference is wrong, correct the stored understanding where possible and verify that later behavior reflects the correction.
Who can use a memory and how long it remains active are separate questions. A field labelled scope or expiry does not by itself prove enforcement in every task, project or model path. Inspect the available controls and test a concrete boundary. Keep unsupported combinations visible as limitations, especially when a memory might be used in a shared or public output.
Deleting a conversation, forgetting a memory and revoking an imported source may affect different records. Ask what remains, what stops being used and how completion is reported. Previously shared artifacts may require separate action. After a change, test a later conversation, while recognizing that a coincidentally similar answer does not alone prove the old record was retained.

You can review and correct your understanding, including candidates from supported, explicitly authorized imports. Project isolation, expiry, shared copies and revocation cleanup must be checked in the actual flow; fields in a record do not establish that every part is complete.
